If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know my posting output has fallen off of late (and by late, I mean about the last two and a half months). All apologies for that. I’ve been devoting my time to other things in the interim and haven’t been able to give my blog or my readers the time and quality content they deserve. One of the projects I’ve been working (along with several other kind-hearted souls) on is the Birmingham Folk Festival, which will be held at historic Avondale Park (4100 5th Ave. South) on August 2nd from 9am til 10 pm. The Festival will feature local and regional musical acts as well as artists in other media. General admission tickets are only $15 and may be purchased at our website (shopping cart coming very soon) or at the gate. Part of the proceeds from the Festival will benefit Mitchell’s Place, which provides services to children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). To get a flavor of the eclectic blend of Folk, Bluegrass, Americana and related styles of music that will feature at the Festival, please come out to The Speakeasy on Friday, July 18th for a pre-Festival benefit show featuring the music of Mandi Rae and John Burke. It’s only $5, all of which benefits the Festival. Come on out to both events and bring your friends and family!

Here’s the lineup:
